I’m Laura – Welcome to noubalen!
People often ask me what led me to become a health coach and why I started this journey, and although it’s not necessarily been straightforward, I’m grateful for the experiences that have brought me here.
Starting with a Spiral
Not too long ago, I found myself in the spiral of chronic stress, with a constant sense of overwhelm, fatigue, irritability, and a lack of energy. I’d hit what felt like an unbreakable wall, and the boundaries between my work and personal life had blurred so much that I barely recognised myself, or the choices I was making. The things that once fuelled me – eating well, exercising, and making time for self-care, or family – were slowly disappearing and no longer being prioritised. Instead, I found myself saying “yes” to everyone and everything, feeling like I had to keep giving more and more at work, and left no space for my own needs.
Reaching Breaking Point
Eventually, I reached what felt like breaking point, and I was signed off work with ‘stress and anxiety,’ – not for the first time. The clichés of ‘surviving vs. thriving’ and ‘existing rather than living’ felt all too real. I felt like I was losing my purpose, and the joy and energy I used to feel were slowly slipping away.
I realised this was not a life I wanted, and something had to change.
Health Coaches Academy
Never content with standing still, I spent hours researching what might help me move forward. My search for answers led me to the Health Coaches Academy, where I decided to train as a health and wellness coach. I was keen to understand what drives our health and wellbeing, how food could impact my energy, and how small shifts in my own behaviour could help me reclaim the control I needed to get my life back on track.
I loved training to be a Health Coach. I met some incredible people, and I learnt so much about why I so deeply needed and wanted to change – and what I was really willing to do about it. My journey brought me a renewed sense of energy, helping me rediscover what’s important to me – and ultimately guiding me to help others do the same.
noubalen
In 2024, I graduated, and we launched noubalen. I won’t say it’s been an easy road or that my journey is complete – quite the opposite, in fact! I feel as though I’m just getting started. Health and wellness coaching has allowed me to grow, connect, and understand how to empower others in ways I hadn’t imagined were possible.

The way we approach our health is often linear – we fall back on what we know, repeat old routines, and hope this time things will be different.
Even if those approaches haven’t worked before, we hold on to them because they feel familiar, and trying something new can feel really uncomfortable.
